TERROR! CHILDREN BY THE THOUSANDS
MURDERED OR MAIMED! BOMBS FALLING LIKE
RAIN, SOAKING THE GROUND WITH BLOOD –
NO PLACE TO RUN, NO PLACE TO HIDE!
Yes, Israel is bombing everything so there is no electricity, no
water, no medicine – no mercy.
But why should we shed tears for the Palestinians? Don’t we in
Kingsbridge have enough of our own problems? Isn’t life tough enough
for us? Aren’t we being pushed out of our communities to make room
for people of lighter skins and bigger wallets? (Oh, like the Palestinians
who are being pushed out of their land for settlers with lighter skin.)
Aren’t our young people being hassled by the cops, stop-and-frisk they
call it. (Oh, like the Palestinians who not are not only stopped-and-frisked them but shot down like dogs.) Aren’t they putting up a huge
ice rink here, of all things, instead of affordable housing? How many in
the community play hockey? (Oh, like in Palestine where they are
taking away drinking water from the Palestinians so that the Israeli
settlers can have swimming pools.) In Kingsbridge they call it
“gentrification.” In Palestine it’s called Occupation.
And who has been pouring money into Israel all these years so
they can commit these horrors? The US government. So far about
$200 BILLION, or about $40,000 for every Israeli man, woman and child.
Yet Washington says it has no money for us, has to cut back on Social
Security, on food stamps, has to sell off public housing.
Looks like we and the Palestinians are in the same boat. They’re
in the part of the boat where the water is up to their neck. For us in
Kingsbridge, the water is now just up to our knees. And all the while
Israel over there and the politicians over here are shooting at the boat
trying to make more holes.
Well, it’s time to stand up for ourselves and for the Palestinians
against the rich white men here and the rich white men in Israel!
